EMDR & Trauma Therapy
SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN TO SUCCESSFULLY TREAT PTSD, PAIN, AND MANY OTHER CONDITIONS
Have you experienced events in your life that are now causing you significant distress and emotional pain? Are you having difficulty sleeping, concentrating and otherwise feeling stuck in the event? Do your relationships suffer due to feelings that are stuck in the past? EMDR trauma therapy can help.
EMDR is like fast tracking therapy. Unlike traditional talk therapy which only scratches the surface, EMDR helps you get to the root of your negative core belief systems to bring faster clarity and more fulfilling therapeutic results.
If you are ready to move forward, EMDR could be just the right fit for you!
WHAT IS EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates the use of bilateral stimulation into therapy. EMDR has helped more than two million people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.

WHO DOES EMDR TREAT?
EMDR can be effective for anyone whose life has been impacted by a traumatic event. We work with teens and adults whose traumatic experiences are preventing them from living the life they want. Scientific research has established EMDR as effective for post traumatic stress. However, clinicians also have reported success using EMDR in treatment of the following conditions:
- Panic Attacks
- Complicated Grief
- Disturbing Memories
- Pain Disorders
- Eating Disorders (Anorexia, Bulimia)
- Performance Anxiety
- Stress Reduction
- Sexual and/or Physical Abuse
HOW DOES EMDR WORK?
EMDR seems to have a direct effect on the way that the brain processes information. Following a successful EMDR session, a person no longer relives the images, sounds, and feelings of the traumatic experience. You still remember what happened, but it is much less upsetting. Many types of therapy have similar goals. However, EMDR appears to be similar to what occurs naturally during dreaming or REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. Therefore, EMDR can be thought of as a physiologically-based therapy that helps a person see disturbing material in a new and less distressing way.
